Into his fourth season in Formula One, Timo Glock has achieved very little to boast about. He has never finished above 10th in the standings and he has been on the podium only thrice. Glock had his first F1 experience in 2004 when he was summoned to fill in for Giorgio Pantano at the Canadian GP. He finished 11th but was promoted to 7th after the cars in front of him were disqualified. He drove for three more races that year ending up 15th in each of them and was out of contention for a race seat the following season.Four years later, the 2007 GP2 champion was called on to replace Ralf Schumacher at Toyota. He finished 10th in the Drivers’ Championship for two years in succession with the Japanese team. Glock was then signed up by Manor Grand Prix for 2010. Over the winter break, Manor transformed into Virgin Racing and Glock found a teammate in Lucas di Grassi, a driver who was once his GP2 rival. The German may rue the fact that he failed to make the most of a strong car in 2009 as he now has to battle with the teething problems of his brand new team that is making its debut. But he will have to put the past behind him and make the present count if he hopes to have a future in the sport.
