Sebastien Buemi became the first Swiss driver on the F1 grid in 14 years when he made his debut with Toro Rosso in 2009. Replacing Sebastian Vettel - who moved to Red Bull - Buemi pulled off a 7th place finish in his debut in Australia causing many to sit up and take notice of his talent.Toro Rosso was never a favourite to compete even as a midfield-runner, leave alone battle at the top of the 2009 grid. But despite that, Buemi managed to bag six points and displayed credible aggression driving a poor car. He scored 75% of Toro Rosso’s total championship points and displayed a towering degree of maturity as he handled the pressure of stepping into the ‘leading role’ in the team. Despite a change of teammate mid season, Buemi was unfazed and he put his head down to deliver the goods for his team bringing out the best that he could from a struggling car. In contrast, this year has been nothing like last season for the ‘Swiss Scorcher’. With only seven points in the first twelve races, the team has lost its lead over Sauber. Nevertheless, Buemi has still managed to outscore his teammate and that counts.
