MILESTONE
The Yas Marina racetrack seems to have been built out of the most far-fetched fantasies of a circuit designer. Built on the 25,000 sqm Yas Island, this venue is trying to steal the tag for the most glamorous F1 destination from the famous Monte Carlo circuit in Monaco.

The track is built around a striking harbour with a yacht dock that would make Monaco blush. It is also the only track on the F1 calendar that boasts of having 100% covered grandstands protecting the spectators from the extreme desert conditions. It also has a 60-meter solar-powered Sun Tower with exclusive seating arrangements for VIPs.

Among some major attractions on Yas Island is a Ferrari theme park and the only Ferrari driving school in the world.

The track is one of the few on the current F1 calendar to run in the anticlockwise direction. It also comprises of the longest straight in F1 and a never-before-seen underground pit lane. This, apart from the awesome blend of high speed sections and dead slow hairpins, is the perfect recipe for a nail-biting race.

The inaugural Abu Dhabi GP was won by Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel.
