Suzuka is probably the only racetrack ever with a unique figure-of-eight layout making it one of the most challenging F1 circuits, both for man and machine. The high speed 130R and the famous Spoon Curve are favourites amongst the drivers. Suzuka is a delight for any F1 fan with a huge theme park constructed at the venue, and the famous big wheel dominating the skyline.
The demanding track requires higher downforce and stiffer set-up than usual to ensure stability at high speeds. Braking is also an important aspect of this circuit as the brakes disintegrate faster than usual so it is of utmost importance that the drivers pace themselves well and preserve the brakes without compensating on lap times, making this is a very difficult circuit to overtake on.
Suzuka is a well-equipped facility with the famous Motopia theme park, the Kur Garden hot springs, golf courses and several restaurants at the venue.
The Italy-based teams seem to dominate the circuit with Ferrari managing to win seven and Benetton recording three wins at this venue. Aguri Suzuki is the only Japanese driver, however, to have ever made it to the podium at this venue.
