Fuji

Based at the foothills of Mount Fuji, Japan this circuit has hosted four races in 1976, 1977, 2007 and 2008 with four different drivers winning it each time. It was decided that Fuji and Suzuka will alternately hold the Japanese Grand Prix starting with Suzuka in 2009. |  The circuit is featured prominently in the Japanese television drama ‘Engine’ as the main setting for races. |  It has been featured in major video games such as Top Gear, Grand Tourismo 4 and Grand Tourismo 5: Prologue, GT Legends and Pole Positions. |  It held one of the better witnessed battles, in heavy rains, for the F1 World Championship in 1976 between Niki Lauda and James Hunt - who went on to win it after Lauda withdrew because of dangerous racing conditions. |  In 1977, Giles Villeneuve was involved in a crash at this circuit which led to the death of two spectators. It was therefore taken off the F1 calendar since, before the next F1 race was held there 30 years later. |  After it’s re-profiling in 2003, it has since been used for Formula Nippon, Le Mans Prototype, Formula Three and Super GT races.
